RRIF Withdrawal Rules

This table outlines the minimum withdrawals on RRIFs that are established after 1992, as set by the government.

Before age 69, the minimum percentage payout is calculated as follows:

1 divided by ( 90 minus your current age )

So if your age is 65 for example, your minimum withdrawal would be 1/(90-65)=4% If you had $100,000 in your RRIF you would be required to withdraw at least $4,000 annually.

For those age 94 or older the minimum withdrawal is 20% annually and continues until the assets in the RRIF are fully depleted.
