Insurance and Financial Advisors Training Course (IFATC)

Surveys show that IFATC is the surest route to increased productivity and competence. 

Sales concepts and technical knowledge are given equal weight during the program. Students study the sales-related process of:

prospecting,

how to finalize a sale,

the world of income tax,

registered retirement savings plans,

a wide range of markets, and

much more.

There are three courses within this program of studies, IFATC 101, 102 and 103. Each course has 13 or 14 sessions.

Completion of these courses is essential for anyone who wishes to build a solid career as a financial advisor. It is also the first important step to obtaining the coveted designations CFP, CLU and CH.F.C.

    Course format

The IFATC course of studies is available in two formats: 1) weekly classes or 2) correspondence. Students in either format complete assignments.

30 CE credits per course.

A CFP has a solid foundation of financial planning skills which are obtained by completing six courses which include:

Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU)

A CLU is a financial advisor with advanced knowledge who, in addition to completing the six CFP courses referred to above, has completed the following courses related to life and health insurance as well as employee benefits:

Advanced Tax
Law
Planning for Business Owners & Professionals
Applied Estate Planning

Chartered Financial Consultant (CH.F.C.)

A CH.F.C. is a financial advisor with advanced knowledge who, in addition to completing the six CFP courses referred to above, has completed the following courses related wealth accumulation and retirement planning:

Advanced Retirement Planning
Advanced Capital Accumulation
Advanced Tax
Law
Planning for Business Owners & Professionals
Applied Financial Planning 

Registered Health Underwriter (RHU)

The two course RHU program concentrates on disability insurance and covers the following topics and more:

Historical Development of Disability Insurance
Individual Disability Income
Business Overhead Expenses
Disability Buy-sell
Key-person Insurance
Group and Government Plans
Tax Status of Disability Benefits
Group Insurance Underwriting
Claims and Legal Issues
Employee Benefit Plans

Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC)

This five course program will be of interest to financial advisors who specialize in employee benefits consulting and includes the following courses:

Retirement Planning
Group Benefits
Selective Human Resource/Compensation Issues
Group Benefits- A Practical Application
Advanced Pension/Retirement Plans
