Built in 1879 our home is one of Niagara's "Chautauqua" homes. Although the Chautauqua Society ceased operation in 1900, Lakeview continued as a summer residence until 1956. First called the Swiss Chalet guests were welcomed for afternoon tea and lunches. Rooms were also available for the weary traveler.
The year marks the fifty-seventh year that our family has owned Lakeview. Jim and I purchased it from his parents in 1984 and have welcomed Bed and Breakfast guests since the summer of 1987. This year is the twentieth anniversary of our business.
Eating a full breakfast is the only way to begin each day. Breakfast is served in the our sunroom overlooking Lake Ontario. Your meal includes fruit in season, coffee, tea, juice, homemade bread, Niagara jams and jellies, and entree. After dining, you can retrieve your bicycles for a short ride into town, or just stroll along the boulevard, past the golf course.
The way to see Niagara-on-the-Lake is at a leisurely and thoughtful pace. Go back in time in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Let our home be your central holiday location for golf, cycling, dining and of course the Shaw Festival. Visit our Canada's first historic museum and Fort George. Taste a new wine at one of our many award winning wineries. We would be pleased to arrange any reservations or tee times you might need.
Sunsets are spectacular when viewed from the verandah or in our adorondack chairs on the front lawn. Some of our guests say that Niagara sunsets over lake Ontario are "better than those in Key West."
We look forward to welcoming you to Niagara-on-the-Lake. We want to make your visit special. We hope you will let us make your trip a holiday to remember.
