Blu-ray wins against rival HD-DVD

Although we had planned to survey our customers to get your views on the Blu-ray/HD-DVD format war, Toshiba announced it has abondoned it's HD-DVD format. Sony's Blu-ray Disc will be the medium used for distributing High Definition video in a disc format. Here too at Eckstein Multimedia Production Services, we will offer only Blu-ray authoring and duplicating for High Definition discs. Standard Definition video will continue to be distributed by DVD and in general a variety of movie clip formats will always be available for web streaming distribution.

High Definition Has Arrived!

We are pleased to announce the introduction of High Definition Video Production to our service line-up. Whether you're creating original HD content or up converting Standard Definition video to HD our AVID Editing system stands ready to serve. HD content can be authoured on to Blu-ray Disc as well as down converting for traditional DVD or as Web Clips.

Check Your Audio & Video Tapes

It has recently come to light that certain brands of audio and video recording tapes are prone to chemical changes resulting in unplayable tapes.

The magnetic coating in some cases simply becomes a sticky mush that jams up the tape and leaves its mess all over your tape heads. This can be very sad when you consider the precious sound and video that might be in your collection. Even some of the top recording artists and TV Productions have had their master tapes affected by this unforeseen problem. My suggestion? While these tapes are still in good playable condition, have them converted to HD Blu-ray Disc, DVD Disc or Compact Disc. Industry estimates suggest that Blu-ray Discs, DVD Discs and C.D.s can expect a lifetime of over 100 years if well cared for. Since Blu-ray technology allows play back of DVDs and CDs as well as Blu-ray Discs you can rest easy since your new conversions will not become obsolete.
