Never let it be said that long-time BIAN member David B. is a "couch potato", or that he is not up for a challenge!  Here is a link, click here, to read his personal narration based on his expedition to Tanzania, East Africa.  This is an inspirational story of the power of the human spirit and how he soared to new heights in his quest to trek to the top of the "Snows of Kilimanjaro"!  How often have we picked up a book about an individual's struggle to overcome a disability, or their determination to return to work after having sustained a brain injury, and we're moved at their perseverance or heroism?  We read about their struggles in three or four hours, while in real time it might have been progress that has taken place over many eyars.  One of the challenges we face when setting out to accomplish something is we don't consider the often slow, and tedious plodding required, one step at a time; the need to maintain a positive attitude; being flexible in order to achieve one's goals; to focus on what is working and not what is not; the importance of being mindful and staying in the moment, and learning to trust ourselves and celebrating our successes!  No summit can change who you are, it merely changes the way you see who you are!

Every life form is an expression of Art.
While Self-Actualization is
everybody's ultimate goal.

This is one of the powers
driving people to succeed!

Our lives are humble,
and we must take heed,
To the powers that drive us
from within our hearts.

Each final result is sculpted
many times
Throughout one's life.

In a way, I am glad
this did happen to me!

It did make me
harshly turn around;
And see,
the black and white of life!

There were may colours before.
A kaleidoscope, my life was like;
Always changing.
Yet, at times, sensible!

What would have been
My final outcome?
I was ignorant to
my true feelings of depression!

This death defying accident,
did open my eyes;
To the vibrant hues
in the kaleidoscope of life!

Everyone has a Story

This is mine…
Why was I chosen?
This is the voice of a victim.
The world has changed
in seconds for me.
What if I hadn’t had
the accident that changed
my life forever?
If you could only see
life through my eyes!

I have the same heart
only my brain has changed.
If you only think about
the little things that matter…
did I take the right turn
on the road back to life???

I didn’t see any signs!
Teach me how to treat you.
I’m learning everyday.

I need a welcome back award.
It’s my second chance.
Where will the road of life
Take me?
You can’t always get what
You want,
But you can try!
