Day 1, Thursday February 14, 2008 Toronto
– Amsterdam
This
evening you depart on your KLM flight for Amsterdam.
Overnight
on route.
Day 2, Friday February 15 Arrival in Tanzania
Early
arrival in Amsterdam gives you time to connect with your daylight flight
to Kilimanjaro.
This evening you arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport.
After clearing customs and immigration, make your way to the
arrival hall where you are met by our local representative.
You are transferred to your hotel.
Overnight: Springland Hotel.
Day 3, Saturday February 16
Depart for Lake Manyara
After
breakfast you are met at the hotel for the drive to Lake Manyara arriving
in time for lunch.
This afternoon set out for your first game drive in the Lake
Manyara National Park. You may get to see lion, hippos, hyena, giraffe and
up to 350 species of birds.
Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 4, Sunday February 17 Lake
Manyara
– Moshi
This
morning you have another game drive in the park.
During your game drives you may get to see the tree climbing lion, a
variety of antelope and bird species.
After lunch at the lodge drive back to the Springland Hotel.

Day 5, Monday February 18
Kilimanjaro Climb
– Mandara Hut
After
breakfast, briefing and drive to the Kilimanjaro National park gate,
register and commence the climb.
Walking through the rain forest to the Mandara encampment located
at 2700
m (9000 ft). Dinner and overnight at Mandara Hut. (B,L,D)
Day 6, Tuesday February 19
Mandara
– Horombo Hut
You now leave the glades of the rain forest and follow an ascending path on
the open moorlands to the Horombo encampment, located at 3700 m (12000
ft). Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut. (B,L,D)
Day 7, Wednesday February 20
Horombo
– Kibo Hut
Ascending you now pass the last watering point, walking
onto the saddle of Kilimanjaro between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi.
Arriving at the Kibo encampment located at 4700 m (15000
ft). Dinner and rest at Kibo Hut.

Day 8, Thursday February 21
Kibo Hut
A full day on the Mountain at Kibo to
acclimatize prior to your summit climb tomorrow. Overnight:
Kibo Hut. (B,L,D)
Day 9, Friday February 22 Kibo Hut
– Summit
– Horombo Hut
Shortly
after midnight commence the climb to the summit on steep and heavy scree
up to Gilman's point located on the crater rim at 5861 m (18640 ft).
Continuing, you now ascend to Uhuru peak, the highest point in Africa at 5895
m (19340 ft ). Celebrate your reaching the top of Africa! From here you
now descend, continuing straight to the Horombo encampment for dinner and
overnight at Horombo Hut. (B,L,D)
Day 10, Saturday February 23 Horombo
– Moshi
The
descent continues past the Mandara encampment back down to the park gate.
This is where successful climbers may now collect their well earned
certificates. Drive to Moshi for dinner and overnight.

Day 11 Sunday February 24 Departure from Tanzania
Dayrooms
have been arranged for your use at the Springland Hotel. Today
you may wish to visit a local church or orphanage or go to the market to
pick up some souvenirs. Then there is time for a last swim in the pool and
a farewell dinner before transferring to the airport for your KLM flight
to Amsterdam. Overnight on route. (B,D)
Day 12 Monday February 25 Amsterdam
– Toronto
Early
arrival in Amsterdam gives you time to connect with your flight to
Toronto.
