Multiculturalism is a lie, a fraud, a sham that has been perpetrated against the people of Canada, both native born and immigrant. The premise of multiculturalism is that all cultures are equal. No culture is better than another, all are deserving of equal respect and consideration. All cultures have equal worth.
This premise is false. It is false both in theory and in practice. If we truly believed in cultural equality, anybody coming to Canada could express his culture with total disregard for the laws of our land. We would permit polygamy, female genital mutilation, slavery, suttee, revenge killing and all sorts of other lovely practices that are part of other cultures. A head-hunter from Borneo: no problem, go get some heads.(Before everyone starts screaming that I'm against all foreign cultures, the list is merely a devise used for making a point. It does not mean I'm a cultural Xenophobe).
In reality, we don't allow that. We say, "You live in Canada, you obey our laws". But what are our laws? THEY ARE AN EXPRESSION OF OUR CULTURE!
What is the basis of our culture? Actually the basis of our culture is the free autonomous individual. Our culture is based on 1000 years of British common law. For a thousand years we've been defining and refining the rights of the free individual. I wonder if maybe that'a why so many people come here, they've heard about personal freedom.
So what happens when they arrive? They're introduced to the fraud of multiculturalism. Do we say "welcome, you"re Canadian now, enjoy all that a free Canadian can be"? No, we say you're a FILL-IN-THE-BLANK CANADIAN, keep all your old customs, and traditions that limited you where you came from, and by the way, here's $100,000 to build a clubhouse, so you don"t have to socialize with other Canadians".(Yes, I know, we don't give everyone who comes here $100,000 to build a clubhouse, I'm trying to make another point. Lighten up!) By practicing multiculturalism, we're encouraging separation and segragation. That poor old head-hunter, he spends all his time at the head-hunters club reminiscing, instead of being a part of and experiencing all of what it could mean to be Canadian.
With the policy of multiculturalism, we're creating a whole class of people who are stripped of the basics of their old culture, and at the same time are not made to truly feel a part of Canadian culture. How often is someone arrested for something, and their excuse is "Thats what we do where I come from". The poor fellow actually believed the fraud. He actually thought we'd respect his culture and traditions.
What about people born here. In their case, it's even worse. At least immigrants have the tattered shreds of their culture to sustain them. For a generation, Canadians have been told they have no culture at all! We're a blank slate. Forget about our laws and institutiions, the true expression of our culture. We've been told there is nothing Canadian. Forget a thousand years of British tradition, it means nothing. At best, it's ignored, at worst, we're made to feel it's slightly evil. A whole generation of Canadians has grown up thinking there is no Canadian Culture. But wait, we do have a culture, the fraud of multiculturalism!
So now what do we have? We have immigrants who are denied the chance to fully share in Canadian culture, and native born Canadians who at best believe they have no culture, and at worse, are ashamed of their true (British) culture and traditions. What a state for a country to be in.
What's the solution? Lets end the sham of multiculturism once and for all. Lets be honest. Lets admit, yes our culture as expressed in our laws is superior. Thats why people come here, because they know our culture, the culture of the free autonomous individual is superior to the one they left behind. Lets create a strong, unified identity based on free autonomous individuals of all races religions and ethnic backgrounds. If we emphasise a society based on true individualism instead of the sham freedom of group identity, this country will be a much stronger and an even better place to live.
