How I searched with no sucess for Canadian FTP
Sites
- I went to the website for Archie
- I searched Archiplex Form using scouting as the key word in
Canada(Ugam), Canada(McGill), Canada(Bunyip)and restricted the domain to
"ca" and got nothing
- I went to the ArchiePlex at McGill University to try again and got
nothing
- I searched Snoopie with no
results
- I searched Filez with no results
- I gave up, no Canadian FTP sites that I could find. However I know
that there is a site with a program call ScoutSys for Troop record keeping
yet I could not find it.
However after I wrote this I got a message from Don Buchan about his Scouting ftp site but I don't
know why it did not come up when I searched for it. He also sent me the
URL for his site on
the web that deals with as well as many other things Scouting and Star Trek.

Using Telnet for Chat
One of the Scout resources availible is using a Telnet to have a chat
room.
If you were to go to http://www.kharduin.net
/~koala/programs
and get the telnet program and then Telnet to dryn.kharduin.net at port
1908 (the year BP was born) and if you contact Jeff Butts in Alberta than you
can join in. Jeff and his crew do a good job of checking references and
he gives you a name and a password so it is very safe for Youth.
mIRC Chat with Scoutlink
In Order to get involved in a mIRC Chat like Scoutlink you have to do the
following.
- Go to mIRC Download
- Add either of the following Scoutlink IRC Servers: Canada at
on.ca.scoutlink.org or USA at utah.us.scoutlink.org
- Once you are connected to Scoutlink join the #scouting channel but
remember there is no one checking who is participating
- If you want to send and recieve the sounds over mIRC (which is half
the fun) go to Scoutlink
- If you make it in say Hi to Greybeard and Clydesdale from St
Catharines
